JAKARTA, Aug.30 (JDN.id) – Indonesian runners won a silver medal in the men’s 4x100m relay at the 2018 Asian Games at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium on Thursday evening.

Japanese team came first at 38.16 seconds.

Lalu Muhammad Zohri and friends won second place at 38.77 seconds beating China’s team at 38.89 seconds.

Indonesia’s first runner was Fadlin, followed by Lalu Muhammad Zohri, Eko Rimbawan and Bayu Kertanegara.

“I dedicated this victory to Indonesia and the people of Lombok, West Nusa. Hopefully we can achieve better in the Olympic in Tokyo 2020,” Zohri said after the medal ceremony.

Syafruddin, Chef de Mission of Indonesia’s contingent said that the hard work was paid off and the moment has become the best performance in the world of athletics since.

The silver medal was won by Indonesian runners 52 years ago during the Asian Games in Bangkok Thailand.

“This is the best record of Indonesia’s achievements in any international sports event. We are proud and grateful that this is a great work for all the children of the nation,” said Syafruddin.

This is the third medal for Indonesia from athletics in this year’s Asian Games. Previously, Nova Emilia also won silver in women’s 100-meter hurdles. Sapwaturahman from men’s long jump won bronze.
