JAKARTA, Aug.29 (JDN.id) – Indonesia’s fighter Sugianto won the 9th gold medal from Pencak Silat on Wednesday from men’s single event in Asian Games 2018 on Wednesday morning.
Competing at Padepokan Pencak Silat, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah in Jakarta, Sugianto showed the best of martial art with bare hands, machetes and sticks. He packed up 471 points and surpassed the other five fighters.
Silver medal went to Thai fighter Ilyas Sadara with 460 points and bronze to Filipino Almohaidib Abad with 455 points.
“I am very proud to present gold to this nation,” Sugianto said.
He admitted that this achievement is the result of his hard work of continous training.
“There is no day without training,” he said.
Indonesia has the opportunity to add five more gold medals from Pencak Silat Final events on Wednesday.
On Monday, Indonesian Pencak Silat Team bagged eight gold medals from various numbers of the sport, a huge contribution to the host country of 18th Asian Games.
