JAKARTA, Aug.28 (JDN.id) – Indonesia’s sepak takraw athletes failed to reach its target to win a gold medal in the 2018 Asian Games after its team was defeated by Malaysia’s with 1-2 in men’s team event at Ranau Hall, Jakabaring Sport City (JSC), Palembang, South Sumatera on Tuesday.
The two teams competed tightly with Indonesia leading 21-18 in the first set.
Indonesia led the score in the beginning of the second set, but Malaysia managed to catch up and win the set 22-20.
In the third set, Indonesia’s athletes had to surrender with a score of 11-21 for Malaysia’s favor and took with them a silver medal.
“We are sorry for not getting the gold medal, hopefully in the next match we can get it,” Prasetya Eka, vice captain of Indonesia’s team told the press.
He admitted, Indonesian team played less calmly in the second set and wanted to finish the game soon so that the Malaysian team could take over the game.
