JAKARTA, Aug.25 (JDN.id) – Indonesia’s tennis players Christopher Rungkat and Aldila Sutjiadi won a gold medal in Asian Games 2018 on Saturday from mix-double division.
They contributed the tenth gold for the host country at Jakabaring Sports City’s tennis field in Palembang, South Sumatra, after nearly two hours of competition against Thailand’s Luksika Kumkhum and Sonchat Ratiwatana in three sets scoring 6:4, 5:7,10:7.
Rungkat and Sutjiadi’s achievement was beyond expectation for Indonesia’s tennis team, which only targeted one bronze from Asia’s biggest sports competition.
The last time Indonesia earned gold from mix-double event in Asian Games was in 1990 from Yayuk Basuki and Hary Suharyadi.
Indonesia’s last gold medal from Asian Games was in 2002, presented by women’s team division.
