Garuda Indonesia Swifts Flights Routes Due to Volcanic Eruption

JAKARTA, Aug.25 (JDN.id) – National flight carrier Garuda Indonesia decided to swift destination of its flights from Jakarta to Malang in East Java to nearby city of Surabaya due to Mount Semeru’s eruption on Saturday, the corporate said.

Two flights were diverted to Surabaya based on Garuda’s commitment to prioritize operational safety aspects, considering vulcanic ashes from the mountain that can harm aviation safety, Corporate Secretary Hengki Heriandono said in a statement.

Data from Himawari 8 Volcanic Ash Advisory stated that the spread of volcanic ashes from Mt. Semeru around Malang has affected flight routes.
