JAKARTA, Aug.24 (JDN.id) – First phase of light rail transit (LRT) in Jakarta has begun its trial operation in Jakarta with limited routes for 30 days to try its construction, started from Aug. 21, a government official said on Thursday.
The first LRT in Indonesia’s capital will be tried for its Velodrome station to Kelapa Gading Mall route, following recommendations from related authorities, according to railways director general Zulkifri.
One train set is operated and for invited guests only for free, he said. The train serves 4.7 kilometer route and passes five stations; Veledrome, Pacuan Kuda, Pulomas, Kelapa Gading Boulevard and Kelapa Gading Mall.
“First trial to (LRT) stations to be conducted when its construction has finished100 percent and supporting documents have been completed,” Zulkifri said.
Jakarta’s state-owned company Jakarta Propertindo is the responsible party to the operation and railway safety, the official from the Transport Ministry explained.
