JAKARTA, Aug. 15 (JDN.id) – Indonesian President Joko Widodo inaugurated Comr Gen. Syafruddin as Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform to replace Asman Abnur who resigned due to political reason.
Abnur’s decision to resign from the cabinet was made after the National Mandate Party (PAN), which he belongs to, declared its position to become opposition party by supporting Prabowo Subianto and his running mate Sandiaga Uno in next year’s presidential election. The pair will challenge Joko Widodo and his running mate Ma’ruf Amin in the race.
Syafruddin is also deputy chair of the Indonesian Mosques Council (DMI). DMI is chaired by Vice President Jusuf Kalla.
After becoming a minister, Syafruddin, who was deputy chief of the National Police, said he had a task from the president to complete existing work programs and targets.
“The recruitment of civil servants needs to be carried out, we continue all the programs that have been running. We only have one year to finish the program I just have to finish it,” said Syafruddin who is also Chef de Mission of the Indonesian team for the 2018 Asian Games.
