JAKARTA, Aug. 15 (JDN.id) – An Indonesian student from Bayreuth University was reportedly dead after drowning in Lake Trebgast Badesse, Bavaria, Germany on Thursday.
SPDS, the victim’s initial, went missing after she had gone swimming on Wednesday.
According to a statement issued by the Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) in Frankfurt on Friday, the 20 -year-old went to the lake with her friends from the university for a swim.
The repatriation of her remain is still on going.
“It is necessary to do the autopsy before the body is buried. Investigation has been carried out by the German authority,” the press release said on Tuesday (14/8).
The autopsy took place on Monday (13/8). Indonesian Consulate General in Frankfurt is waiting for the result.
Meanwhile, Foreign Ministry’s Indonesian citizen protection director Lalu Muhammad Iqbal said they will provide assistance to the victim’s family to bring back the remain.
“We are sorry about the incident and convey our deep condolences to the family,” he said.
Iqbal also added that if the family is able to fund the repatriation, the embassy will take care of the administrative matters including in the airport.
“But if not, we will help fund all the costs for it. Indonesia’s representatives in Germany will definitely do their best,” he said.
