JAKARTA, Aug. 13 (JDN.id) – Indonesian President Joko Widodo, popularly known as Jokowi, visited earthquake victims in Lombok island, West Nusa Tenggara on Monday.
“Until today, the death toll due to magnitude-7 earthquake that hit Lombok on Aug.5 is 436 and 1,353 are injured and 352,736 residents are taking refuge,” President Jokowi said in a written statement on twitter.
The president said he would stay overnight in a makeshift tend after a meeting with displaced residents and observe the disaster handling process closely.
Sampai hari ini, korban meninggal gempa 7 SR di Lombok 5 Agustus lalu sebanyak 436 orang, luka-luka 1.353 orang, dan 352.736 warga mengungsi.

Distribution of aid in affected areas is hampered due to infrastructure damages such as on roads and bridges. The most affected area is North Lombok regency.
After the main tremor, more than 500 aftershocks occurred, according to the country’s disaster mitigation agency.
