JAKARTA, Aug. 13 (JDN.id) – Indonesian Police Detachment Anti-Terror 88 arrested on Monday a suspected terrorist believed to be a member of the East Indonesia Mujahideen (MIT) militant network, an official said.
Provincial police spokesman Dicky Sondani said the guy, identified as Mualim Mato Priyo Sudi Hartanto (34), was arrested in East Luwu district in South Sulawesi, 500 km from the province’s capital.
“He had been hiding in Bangun Jaya village,” he said as quoted by Suara.com on Monday (13/8).
He said the arrest came after police apprehended two suspects in East Luwu last week and confiscated 15 kilograms of explosive materials.
On a separate occasion, police nabbed two suspects in Bone district, about 450 km (280 miles) from East Luwu.
Dicky said they all had ties to Santoso, the MIT leader killed in a police anti-terrorism operation in 2016.
