JAKARTA, Aug. 13 (JDN.id) – Indonesia’s U-23 men’s football team won from Taiwan with 4:0 on Sunday, which is a good performance in the beginning of Asian Games 2018.
Patriot Stadium in Bekasi, West Java witnessed that success.
Chef de Mission for Indonesia’s contingent to Asian Games 2018 Comr. Gen. Syafruddin said the victory has become a positive inspiration for other sports athletes who will compete in this month Games.
“I am grateful and thank to the national (men’s football) team, for the best game tonight. This is encouraging. It will certainly motivate our contingent athletes in other sports. I say this is a good start for the Indonesian contingent,” said Syafruddin in a statement received by JDN.id on Monday.
Before the match began, he have met the players and Coach Luis Milla to convey support and prayers for the best U-23 national team performance.
“I had met the national team and coach. I give full support and motivation to them,” he said
Stefano Lilipaly made two scores at minute 67th and 76th, while Alberto “Beto” Goncalves scored at minute 70th and M. Hargianto in injury time.
With this victory, Indonesia ranked second place in Group A with three points.
Palestine in the first place with 4 points, Hong Kong sits at third with 3 points and followed by Taiwan with 1 point and Laos without point.
