JAKARTA, Aug. 10 (JDN.id) – Two pairs of Indonesia’s president and vice president candidates have registered their candidacy to general elections commission KPU on Friday.
Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo and Ma’ruf Amin registered to KPU on Friday morning, while Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno in the afternoon.
Jokowi and Ma’ruf were accompanied by political party coalition leaders from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), Golkar Party, United Development Party (PPP), People’s Conscience Party (Hanura), National Democratic Party (NasDem), National Awakening Party (PKB), the Indonesian Justice and Unity Party (PKPI), Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) and United Indonesia Party (Perindo).
Prabowo and Uno were accompanied by leaders from three supporting political parties Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra), National Conscience Party (PAN) and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) and two additional parties, Democrat Party and Beringin Karya Party (Berkarya).
Chairman of Democrat Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was not present, but his two sons, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono and Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono attended the event.
Chairman of Berkarya Hutomo Mandala Putra was not seen during the registration of Prabowo-Uno to KPU, but his elder sister Siti Hediati Hariyadi, or Titiek, was in attendance. Titiek is former wife of Prabowo.
The two pairs’ documents have been completed as required, according to KPU.
Jokowi-Ma’ruf will go through compulsory medical check on Aug. 12, and Prabowo-Uno on the following day.
