JAKARTA, Aug. 11 (JDN.id) – Indonesia’s economic creative agency Bekraf sends eight local brands to participate in 2018 NY Now event that will be held on Aug. 12-15 in New York, United States.
The eight Indonesia’s creative craft-making producers are Sackai Bags, Siji, Kana Goods Noesa, Kayou, Pala Nusantara, Jenggala, and Indo Risakto.
All of the producers have passed curation by domestic and international curators.
Their products met the criteria of being handmade using domestic material, eco-friendly possessing characteristic and originality of Indonesia.
“The quality of the products (that will attend NY Now 2018) is by far better than the previous ones,” Triawan Munaf, head of Bekraf said in a press conference on Aug.1 in Jakarta.
This year is the third time for Indonesia to participate in NY Now held twice a year. The event is the leading international market for home, lifestyle and handmade products.
2018 NY Now is to be held at Jacob Javits Center in New York.
“Sackai Bags is very happy and we appreciate Bekraf who has opened the opportunity for Indonesian craft-makers to directly meet with buyers in American market,” said Presi Mandari, co-owner of Sackai Bags.
“This is also an opportunity for us to learn about market needs and trends which in the future will be useful for the adaptation of our products,” Toto Prastowo, another co-owner of Sackai Bags told JDN.id.
Sackai Bags produces fashionable canvas bags and luggage whose motif designs include Indonesia’s native animals such as rhino and elephant.
