JAKARTA, July 30 (JDN.id) – National flag carrier Garuda Indonesia is confident to reach the target of flying 45 million passengers in 2020. The airline company has shown good performance in the first half of 2018 by reducing its loss and increasing operating revenue.
According to Garuda Indonesia, in the first half of 2018, the corporate has reached $1.9 billion of operating revenue, a rise of 5.9 percent from the same period last year. The company has also managed to reduce the loss to 60 percent compared to last year.
The improvement of its performance was supported by the increasing number of passengers, cargo shipping, the utility of planes and efficiency.
“The achievement of the increase of operating revenue has certainly become a special momentum for the company to continue to strengthen amid the pressure towards global aviation sector due to the impact of fluctuation global economy,” said Pahala Masury, president director of Garuda Indonesia in a statement.
In the future Garuda will focus on improving its low-budget carrier Citylink.
The company also announced to use a strategy called Sky Beyond 3.5. which is expected to attract more passengers by 2020.
With the Sky Beyond 3.5 program Garuda Indonesia expects to reach 45 Million passengers, with punctuality above 90 percent and royal class service.
