JAKARTA, July 25 (JDN.id) – The Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) plans to add its investment to Indonesia’s Mandalika special economic zone in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs Luhut Pandjaitan said on Wednesday.
The government is also seriously developing Mandalika as a new tourist destination, which is part of 10th new Balis.
Qatar’s investment reportedly is focusing on the tourism infrastructure projects at Mandalika such as to build hotels, golf field and amusement park.
“We are going to built various facilities. The beaches are so beautiful and can attract tourist,” he said.
Pandjaitan praises the development in the area which is very significant increasing in recent years.
“The development here is getting better from last time I came here. Land releasing issues and other problems have been solved after more than 29 years abandoned,” he said when reviewed the area of Mandalika.
“Although the infrastructure is not 100 percent complete but more and more people keep coming here,” he said.
It’s recorded that during Eid al Fitr holidays, at least 7000 people visitors have come to the island.
