JAKARTA, July 20 (JDN.id) – Indonesia has set a target to get top ten places with at least 16 gold medals in Asian Games 2018, an official said.
The Asia’s biggest sports event will be held in Jakarta and Palembang from Aug. 18 to Sept. 2.
“In the history, the best we could get was the top five. So now, 16 gold medals, I think is enough to put us in the top-ten place,” said Chef de Mission of Indonesia’s Contingent Comr. Gen. Syafrudin in Jakarta on Friday (20/7).
Syafrudin held a teleconference for sports coaches and athletes overseas, many of whom are still in training camps or pre-competitions.
Improvements on facilities have been made to support national athletes including medical treatment, training, and exercise.

“The government will reward around Rp1.5 billion ($103,500) for athletes who win gold. they will be guaranteed to become government employee without any test,” he said.
There will be 27,000 athletes participating from around the world. Indonesia will send 900 athletes to participate in 40 sports.
