JAKARTA, June 19 (JDN.id) – Three Indonesian airlines, Garuda Indonesia, Lion Air, and Batik Air have had their safety ranking upgraded to the highest level by global airline safety and product rating review website AirlineRatings.com.

Garuda Indonesia, Indonesia’s biggest low cost carrier Lion Air and its full flight service carrier arm Batik Air, have all been upgraded to the top safety tier – seven stars – by the review website.
“The upgrade is the result of a new audit of Indonesia’s compliance with the eight categories in the International Civil Aviation Organization Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme (USOAP),” AirlineRatings.com said in the statement.
AirlineRatings.com also took into a consideration that all three Indonesian carriers have completed the International Air Transport Association Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), which is a biennial audit.
The review website said flag carrier Garuda completed the IOSA audit in 2008 and has not seen an accident or serious incident since. The airline has been cleared from the ban to fly to Europe after it completing the audit.
