JAKARTA, June 18 (JDN.id) – Indonesia’s transport ministry issued a warning statement on Monday for those who release hot air balloon that could disturb air traffic to be punished with maximum two years in prison or 500 million rupiah ($36,000) of fine.
“The hot air balloons are dangerous (for air traffic). It is mentioned in the Law No. 1 of 2009 on Aviation that is the using or flying hot air balloon can be punished with two years jail sentence or fine as much as 500 million rupiah,” Transport Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said as quoted by the ministry’s press statement.
The ministry have cooperated with the Air Force, the Police, AirNav Indonesia, state airport operator Angkasa Pura I and regional governments to find a solution where they come up with the suggestion to public to hold a balloon festival, Sumadi said.
