JAKARTA, June 18 (JDN.id) – Indonesian police dropped its investigation over Rizieq Shihab, the founder of an Indonesian Muslim hardliner group the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), on sexual chat with a women, due to his lawyer team’s request and the fact that the uploader of the chatting has yet found.

Shihab has been living abroad since he left the country for ummrah or minor hajj to Saudi Arabia in May last year, shortly after his sexual chat through WhatsApp with social activist Firza Husein was leaked.
Shihab himself broadcast the news about the dropping of the case through a short video and and his lawyer statement that went viral through WhatsApp on the first day of Muslim’s Eid al-Firtr, which was on June 15.

The sexual chat is only one among 17 cases that police have been investigating regarding Shihab, according to kumparan.com.
Police investigators have interrogated Shihab in Saudi Arabia in August 2017, the National Police Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian has said.
