follow link JAKARTA, June 6 (JDN.id) – Indonesia’s anti-graft agency KPK arrested five individuals, including Central Java’s Purbalinga Regent Tasdi on Tuesday in relation with suspected bribery in the regency’s procurement project, the agency said in a statement.
“KPK has conducted a law enforcement action by arresting five people, including TSD, Purbalingga’s regent,” Febri Diansyah, KPK spokesman said.
The suspects were arrested in various places in Jakarta and Purbalingga.
“KPK has concluded (from initial interrogation) that there was suspected corruption crime committed by receiving bribe or gift that was handed to Purbalingga regent,” Febri explained.
The arrest was linked to Purbalingga Islamic Center development project.
Tasdi, a politican from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), who is the regency head from 2016 and should be until 2021.
The political party expelled Tasdi from his political post following his arrest, local media reported on Wednesday.
Tasdi is now detained at a KPK detention house in Jakarta. He is facing maximum 20 years prison sentence if found guilty.
